Being able to go kayaking in Mexico to secluded spots is a nice surprise. The Tres Ríos eco-park is such a place. On the Riviera Maya 7 miles north of Playa del Carmen, it is surrounded by jungle, with extensive mangroves and waters where kayaks can pass through and take you to places that seem unreachable.
Playa del Carmen has excellent boating facilities. Whether you own your own sailboat, yacht, or you want to lease one, this is a great place for sailing. Alternatively, if you are happy just to be a passenger you can take a ferry from Playa del Carmen to the island of Cozumel. The ferry crossing takes about an hour and lets you take in some beautiful and exotic scenes.
In Puerto Aventuras, between July and August, local fishermen organize special boat fishing trips to catch the coveted sailfish. The great diversity of sea life sets the scene for some great catches between March and October. Eleven miles from Puerto Aventuras, Akumal also has sport fishing trips. These are on luxury yachts, many of which can even include a cook to serve up your catch on board.
